Google Analytics is a tool provided by Google to help measure website traffic performance, this platform also provide tools that are able to report the source traffic, visitor demographic data, popular content, etc. All of that data can be used to evaluate the content of the website, for example, we can decide which content we need to provide and which content to reduce, because Google Analytics shows the traffic data from each content from the website.
There are at least 6 types of data on Google Analytics :
1. Realtime
In the menu Realtime > Overview, you can check the website’s real-time metrics. when you open the website, application, or device at that time, data that has been recorded can be accessed directly.
On the overview page, there had some data will appear, like :
- user amount that opens the website in real-time
- Divided user by the device used to access the website
- Pageview per minute
- Pageview per second
- Top referral
- Top social traffic
- Top Keywords
- Top active pages
- Top locations
all of the data above is available in simple form. for a more complete appearance, you can access the submenu Locations, Traffic Sources, Content, Events, and Conversions under Realtime
2. Visitor Demographic
who’s visited your website? where are they from? what are their interests?
all that can be known with Google Analytics. even, if compared with the 4 menus else, the Audience part gave complete insight.
for the summary view from audience data, you can go to Audience > Overview. At this part, you also can see data like :
- Users amount
- Pageview amount
- New users amount
- Opened page amount in 1 session
- Session amount
- Session amount per user
- Bounce rate
- Demographics by language, country, and city
- Operating system used
- Information about smartphone operating systems used by the audience
Beyond the data above, you can also learn specific information about the audience. for gender and age of the audience, you can klik Audience > Demographic.
You are able to know what the audience’s favorite topic is through Audience > Interests.
through this menu, you know about audience interested topics (Affinity Categories), what product that interested and ready to buy (In-Market Segments), and both (Other Categories).
